Olympic Spirit- Day 15

Good morning everyone. Yesterday, we watched in awe as Alexandre Bilodeau won the gold medal in men's moguls. But as his story unfolded about his drive for success it quickly started to hit close to home for our family. His perseverance is a result of being raised with a brother with cerebral palsy. He watched his brother's determination and made it his own. The gold medal interview on national television was not about the success of Alexander Bilodeau but about the success of a family raising a special needs child. It brought great joy to my heart to hear a their story. It reminded me of Shaelyn and her determination.

When Shaelyn first started with the Skipping Sensations, Kourtney walked into the gym and came over and sat down near her. Shaelyn's new skipping friends asked Shaelyn what was wrong with her sister. Shaelyn told them she had special skin and one day she would win a skipping competitition so that she can raise enough money to find a cure for her skin disorder. Once again we are reminded that having a child with special needs affects everyone in the family and can make a family stronger or tear them apart.

Which brings me back to Day 15 of our challenge. Don't give up, you can do it! I am heading to yoga today. Kourtney is sick but we will get her moving today. Shaelyn is skipping at the Abbotsford Rec Centre at 3:30 today for a public demo if anyone wants to see what she does.

Once again . . . thanks for participating in the challenge, if you have not kept up there are still 15 days left. Have a good one!!!

James just commented about that interview a few minutes ago and said that it wasn't fair that his brother couldn't stand on the podium with him. He is really starting to stand up for Brett :)

It's nice to see the sibs rally for their special needs sibs. Not an easy road for Shaelyn, James nor others and a fine balance for a family, right? So glad that you are all keeping up with your challenges and woo hooo for Kourtney on the walk home. That's really quite a feat and she must have been so proud of herself.

I'm sorry that I missed the demo. Are there any more coming up?
